Summer... what summer?? As everyone in the UK knows, the weather has been terrible... together with the foiled terrorist attacks, I'm not surprised if tourists have been put off visiting the country!
But of course, with the unexpected rain, comes the disappointment that you can't wear that lovely dress or sandals you bought earlier in the year when the sunshine was a regular occurrence. So wardrobes have to adapt...
But the sunshine has finally made an appearance and its the weekend! Happy happy happy!!!! In keeping with the couture week that happened in Paris this week, here are some dresses that were made for me...
I don't think I've worn this dress since my cousin made it! It did have shoulder pads (reminiscent of the '80's) but I asked my cousin to take them out, cos they made my shoulders look way too big! Its a very vintage looking dress but I love its simplicity!
This floral halterneck dress has a simple but very flattering shape! Again, this was designed and made by my cousin- Greta Lee. If anyone does go to Mauritius, her boutique is in Inkerman Street, Rose Hill. Be quick, she may not be there much longer as she is thinking of emigrating... not to the UK, unfortunately!
My coral silk dress was made in Vietnam for me. Its a plain shift dress but the pattern on it isn't a regular spot pattern which is why I chose the fabric.
I chose the fabric in Thailand and I think its a very traditional silk gold and cream weave. The fabric had a fringe at the end, which I did want to keep and asked the Vietnamese tailors to keep it as the embellishment at the bottom of the dress, which they have!
Finally... I know this is not technically a dress, more like an ensemble but again, it was made for me in Vietnam. Its their traditional dress called the 'ao dai' which consists of a Chinese style 'Qi pao' that is ankle length but has side splits up to just above your waist. Underneath you wear large baggy trousers. And the hat is not necessary but I bought it in Vietnam and I like the effect of the whole outfit!
